Kikuyu Singer Ngaruiya Junior Ditches Rigathi Gachagua's Camp, Explains Reason for Exit

In a surprising turn of events, Kikuyu gospel singer Ngaruiya Junior, popularly known as the King of Kigooco, has officially withdrawn his support for Rigathi Gachagua and shifted his allegiance to Deputy President Kithure Kindiki.

Why Did Ngaruiya Junior Leave Gachagua`s Camp? Speaking after a gathering hosted by Kindiki on May 23, 2025, Ngaruiya expressed his frustrations with Gachagua, citing a lack of appreciation for musicians. He revealed that Gachagua had previously blasted singers at Moses Kuria’s sister’s burial, making them feel undervalued.

Additionally, Ngaruiya accused Gachagua of political deception, claiming that he falsely endorsed him as if he held an official position. According to Ngaruiya, Gachagua misled the public by stating that he had offices both at the State House and elsewhere, which he insists was a fabrication.

A Political Future for Ngaruiya Junior?

Beyond his frustrations, Ngaruiya’s exit appears to be strategic, as he announced his intention to run for office in Subukia Constituency. He also mentioned that fellow Kikuyu musicians Samidoh and Karangu might also enter the political arena.
One of the key reasons for his departure was Gachagua’s refusal to issue singing certificates to artistes who plan to run for political seats. Ngaruiya stated that he could no longer support someone who blocked musicians from pursuing political ambitions.

Kindiki Gains Support from Kikuyu Artists

Ngaruiya’s move signals a growing shift among Kikuyu musicians toward Kindiki’s camp. He praised Kindiki for valuing artistes, stating, “Kindiki is fine, we have seen you love us, and we love you too. We are with you.”
